In our third year of marriage, Marti got pregnant. We hadn’t planned this, but we quickly adjusted to the anticipation. When we ended up losing the baby through miscarriage we were devastated. Well, I should say, Marti was. I didn’t really get the significance of what had happened until six months later when I was looking over a pro-life brochure and saw, for the first time, a fetus at the stage our baby would have been when we lost it. It hit me full force and I sat down and wrote this song. Needless to say, we got pregnant as soon as possible thereafter and Marti gave birth to a healthy Christopher.
